*EventBrite* FOMO to GOMO

Wednesday, June 08, 2016

Hi guys,

(Warning : This will be a lengthy post so be prepared to read.)

Have you guys ever had the phobia/fear of missing out (FOMO) when you're out with your friends? To be honest, I did experienced FOMO before. It's not a good feeling but well, you can't do anything but to "blend in" with your friends. But sometimes trying to "blend in" with your friends, makes it even more worst. They'll be like "WHAT ARE YOU DOING. Trying to attract attention or what" but actually you're just trying to click with them and not miss out on anything. The great thing is that, GOMO (Going Out More Often) is the new FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out).

Remember how your bunch of close friends didn't ask you out for dinner and posted photos of them on social media? Well, it's FOMO! Watching your favorite movie without you? Sadly, it's FOMO! Cafe hopping without you? FOMO again!

Guess what? FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) is a legit word that exist. It's not even made up or whatever, it's also added to the Oxford English Dictionary. It's defined as "an anxiety that an exciting or interesting event may currently happened elsewhere, often aroused by posts seen on a social media website". (If you want, you can Google the word "FOMO" and you'll be able to see the definition.)

FOMO is getting really exhausted because you'll always see your friends posting almost every detail of their lives on their social media. That feeling sucks because you're not in it. But there's a way of getting rid FOMO and to GOMO, Eventbrite is gonna help you guys out!

Just a little background story of Eventbrite, in case you don't know.
Eventbrite is the world's largest self-service ticketing platform. They build the technology to allow anyone to create, share, find and attend new things to do that fuel their passions and enrich their lives.

What do they actually mean by "self-service ticketing"? You're able to host an event/classes and organize it in YOUR OWN WAY! If you don't want to host an event, you're also able to attend other events which are free.

How does Eventbrite works?
1. Create - Fill in your event details, choose your ticket type and you're ready!
2. Promote - Invite people to your event and reach a new audience with their promotional tools.
3. Host - Check guest lists, scan tickets and hold a great event!

Check out here for Eventbrite's features.

You can host an event for free or paid. What I meant by paid event is, you're able to earn money for hosting your own event. Show your talent through event/classes! :) do what you really enjoy. Check out here for Eventbrite's fees.

I am sure there's always things you're good at because everybody is talented. For me, I would totally hold a baking class because I would want to share recipes and delicious treats with people. I love baking because I get to make everything by myself from the bottom and end up having a delicious treat that I can share with the people around me. When they praised my food, I felt so happy and felt like I accomplished something on my own! For me, baking actually helps me to relax but I absolutely hate washing up (I know you guys feel the same as me).

MY suggestions/ideas on what kind of events to host/attend:
Cooking classes - Opposite of baking. Show your delicious food to everyone! You can learn to cook for your love ones ;)

Yoga classes - Helps you to relax your mind and body. (I honestly can't do yoga because I'm not flexible enough LOL. Probably one day I'll attend classes to try it out.)

Workshop - Share your life experiences with people to keep them motivated and inspired. I think this is a pretty good one provided that you're interested in it.

Birthday events - Celebrate it with your love ones and make it feel special by customizing your own ticket and such. Make it memorable!

Music events/classes - Share your voice and piece of your music to everyone! I'm sure they'll enjoy themselves (because who doesn't love music! I know I do! But I can't play any instruments HAHA)

There are endless of ideas which I can't think of but let me know what kind of event you'll host/attend because I would like to know so I can host/attend as well!
